Britain concerned over rising tension in Egypt

The British government expressed its deep concern here on Saturday over the rising tension in Egypt, urging all sides to reject violence and stick to dialogue and peaceful demonstrations. In a statement, British Foreign Secretary William Hague called on Egyptian authorities and national leaderships to shoulder their responsibilities in pacifying the situations and alleviate the tension in that country. Furthermore, Hague condemned all types of violence, as well as the rising number of those killed and injured, asserting at the same time that the time has now come for dialogue and pacification, not violence and confrontations. He also urged Egyptian authorities to ensure safety of demonstrations and refrain from using excessive force against them in order to ensure the right of peaceful demonstrations for the Egyptians.
