A Bangladeshi fisherman was killed allegedly by Myanmar's border guards at Naf River that separates southern Bangladesh from western Myanmar state of Rakhine on Monday morning, an official said.

The official told Xinhua from Cox's Bazaar district, some 292 km southeaster of capital Dhaka, that a group of Myanmar's Border Guard Police (BGP) intruded into Bangladeshi waters on a speedboat and opened fire, leaving fisherman Nurul Amin, 32, dead on the spot at around 6:30 a.m. (local time) Monday.

Quoting another unhurt fisher Md Hashim, the official said another fisherman Nurul Mustafa suffered bullet injuries when the BGP opened fire at their fishing boat.

Sohab Das, an emergency medical officer in Cox's Bazar, told journalists that Amin sustained shots to the chest and he died from excessive bleeding before he was taken to the hospital.

Mustafa was shot on his back, the doctor added.

A Foreign Ministry spokesman in Dhaka could not reached for comment.
