United Nations - KUNA

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon extended late Monday deepest condolences and sympathies to many people who have been killed and wounded by Sunday's earthquake in Gansu province, China. "Let me express my deepest condolences and sympathies to many people who have been killed and wounded by yesterday's earthquake in Gansu province (in China)." "Our thoughts are with the families of victims and those wounded. I am sure that under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and the help of the people, there will be speedy recovery of those who are injured. I sincerely hope that the people of China will be able to overcome this very tragic incident," said Ban at an event held at the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China to the UN earlier that evening. President Jinping has called for all-out rescue efforts following the deadly 6.6-magnitude quake that jolted Minxian and Zhangxian and killed at least 75 people and injured more than 600 in northwest China's Gansu Province.
