Manama - BNA
Minister of Works, engineer Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf, received on Monday the Japanese Ambassador to the Kingdom, Mr. Shigeki Sumi. The Minister praised bilateral cooperation relations between Manama and Tokyo on trade, economic and industrial fields and also praised the role undertaken by the Japanese Embassy in arranging for visits by Japanese businessmen to hold meetings with Bahraini counterparts and boost the volume of trade and investments. The meeting discussed the recent visit and field tour of a Japanese delegation to the Muharraq Water Treatment Plant and coordination between the Ministry of Works and the Japanese Embassy to arrange for another visit by a group of Japanese experts to organize a seminar/workshop on infrastructures and environmental matters. The anticipated visit will provide a good opportunity to show advanced Japanese technological expertise and optimal solutions to clean the Tubli Bay. It was agreed on principle to schedule the upcoming visit for next October. The Minister said that the Ministry of Works welcomes visits of Japanese experts and bilateral communications regarding the environment and sewerage. The two sides discussed the activation of a bilateral cooperation agreement signed by the Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Japanese Minister of Lands, Infrastructures, Transpiration and Tourism on the sidelines of the official visit of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister to Tokyo last April. The Ministry communicates and coordinates with the officials in the Japanese Embassy regarding the follow-up of activation of the said agreement in coordination with the relevant bodies in the Kingdom.
