Moscow - Itar-Tass
A former inspector of Russia’s Audit Chamber Pavel Yeremeyev is convicted of fraud and sentenced to five years in prison, press service of the Investigative Committee told Itar-Tass on Monday. In July 2002, the former inspector was in Ulan-Ude (Buryatiya) as a member of the Audit Chamber’s team to inspect the republic’s budget. “The investigation and the court have revealed that acting jointly with unidentified persons he organized that Buryatia’s government signed an agreement with a so called “one-day” company Krimzon on development and implementation of a state automated system for financial planning and management of state purchases, where the cost was one million dollars,” the press service said. Later on, from the republic’s budget 30 million rubles were transferred to the account of the said company to disappear somewhere abroad. The company had been registered for a faked person and realistically had not been involved in any businesses. “Besides, in December 2003, after having been fired from the Audit Chamber, Yeremeyev in Ulan-Ude attempted embezzlement from Buryatiya’s budget over 1.4 million rubles,” the source said. For a long time, Yeremeyev was on the international wanted list. He sheltered in different countries, including Uzbekistan, and was detained in Moscow. “The court sentenced Yeremeyev to five years’ imprisonment in a general regime prison,” the Investigative Committee said.
