The stockpiling of Azerbaijan’s offensive weapons poses a threat of destabilization not only to regional, but also international situation, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said at the 68th session of the U.N. General Assembly on Saturday. “Up to the present moment the Azerbaijani leadership is conducting an active propaganda of war and instigates anti-Armenian moods on the daily basis, using the floor of the United Nations Organisation for this,” Nalbandian noted. In his words, the use of force will not help resolve the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, a landlocked region in the South Caucasus. “However, through unprecedented stockpiling of offensive weapons Azerbaijan threatens regional and international security now despite the country’s status of a member of the U.N. Security Council,” the minister noted. Contrary to Azerbaijan, Armenia stated several times about the country’s adherence to the principles of international law, primarily the refusal from the use of force and threats, to the principle of equity and the right for self-determination,” he said. Earlier on Saturday, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov said at the 68th session of the U.N. General Assembly that the country criticizes “Armenia’s invasive policy,” noting that this policy “has no chances for success.” “The Nagorno-Karabakh region was, is and will be integral part of Azerbaijan. The only way to achieve a stable resolution (of this conflict) and establish civilized relations between two neighbouring countries is to put an end to the occupation of Azerbaijani territories, restore fully the sovereignty and regional integrity of Azerbaijan and ensure immediately unalienable rights of refugees and internally displaced persons for their return to their homes,” Mamedyarov said.
