
The Syrian refugees in Iraq's Kurdistan province will feature high on the agenda of the 2nd donors conference for the Syrian refugees, due in Kuwait on January 15, an Arab League official said Friday.Sheikha Hessa Al-Thani, the Secretary General's envoy for humanitarian relief, made the remarks during her visit to a camp of the Syrian refugees in Iraq's Kurdistan. Speaking to reporters, Sheikha Hessa said her visit aimed at getting acquainted with the conditions of the Syrian refugees and their needs.She said the number of Syrian refugees in neighboring countries has been growing.Participants in the 2nd donors conference next week, added Sheikha Hessa, would discuss the role of Iraq's Kurdistan government to hosting the Syrian refugees and providing services for them.There are more than 6.5 million Syrians are internally displaced and over 2.3 million refugees in neighboring and othercountries.The UN appeals for USD 6.5 billion for the year 2014 for the Syrian people.The conflict in Syria began in March 2011 and has killed more than 100,000 people so far.
