General Nabil el Araby
Cairo - Arab Today

Arab League (AL) Secretary General Nabil el Araby Wednesday appealed to all parties concerned, including regional and international states that sponsor Geneva negotiations to support the efforts of the UN Special Envoy Staffan de Mistura to remove all obstacles to the Syrian peace talks.

In a statement, El Araby voiced his concern over risks arising from the escalation of military operations in Aleppo city, its countryside and all Syrian cities.

Also, he called for exerting more efforts to maintain the ceasefire agreement and put an end to all hostilities as well as the continuation of delivering relief works and aid supplies to all affected and besieged areas.

The AL backs the Syrian peace talks as being the only solution to end the crisis, stop the bloodshed in the country and completes the political transition process according to the provisions of the Geneva communique of 2012 and the UN Resolution No. 2254, El Araby asserted.
