Sofia - Anadolu

Protesters formed a human chain on Thursday around the Bulgarian parliament in capital Sofia on the 35th day of demonstrations against Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski's government.   Calling for a broader participation for Thursday's demos, protesters shut down almost all crossroads in downtown Sofia, blocking traffic flow. Scolding the parliamentarians as they entered the parliament building with police escorts, protesters chanted "Resign" and "Mafia". Fourteen people were detained during the protests since early Thursday. Eight people were injured in a clash between anti-government protesters and ultra-nationalist opposition party ATAKA supporters on last month. Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev called July 5 for early elections in the face of the growing political crisis and mass protests to the detriment of Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP). The anti-government demonstrations began as a response to the nomination of Delyan Peevski, a media mogul, as head of the national security agency
