
Algerian national council speaker Mohammad Ould Khalifa met Sunday with Alaeddin Boroujerdi, Chairman of Iranian Parliament's national security and foreign policy committee, and called on importance of finding a peaceful solution for the Syrian conflict. A statement by the national council said the two sides called for solving the crisis in Syria peacefully rather than militarily. Ould Khalifa emphasized that the Palestinian people have the right to establish their independent state, as well as the right of the Sahrawi people to determine their own future, it added. Boroujerdi appreciated Algeria's support of countries to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. He, meanwhile, voiced relief that views of Algeria and Iran regarding a host international affairs were close. He also called for further political and economic cooperation between the two countries. The two parties also discussed means of promoting parliamentary relations.
