Argentina's Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra
Algiers - ArabToday

Algeria and Argentina on Saturday expressed their will to boost their bilateral relations in all fields, as Argentina's Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra has started a work visit to Algiers.

"Algiers and Buenos Aires share important economic and political relations, as the two nations' multilateral approaches are similar," Malcorra told reporters after the talks with her Algerian counterpart Ramtane Lamamra.

For his part, the Algerian foreign minister said he exchanged views and analysis with his counterpart on the situation in Africa and Latin America, saying Malcorra conveyed a message from Argentinean President Mauricio Marci to President Bouteflika, as he expressed his country's willingness to develop and strengthen relations between the two countries.

He said Algeria and Argentina share long standing relations in several fields, including science and technology, and "we are determined to open new prospects to boost excellent relations."

Lamamra said he discussed with Malcorra several issues on the UN agenda, including peace, security, cooperation, development and humanitarian challenges, notably decolonization issues and the consolidation of the unity of African and the Non-Aligned Countries.

During her official visit, Malcorra is due to hold meeting with top Algerian officials on Sunday.
