President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that Islamic Republic of Iran and India should make the utmost use from their vast potentials for mutual cooperation given the fact that both countries have common interests in the region. President Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a meeting with Indian Minister of New and Renewable Energies Farouq Abdullah in Tehran on Sunday. He said that Iran and India have deep historical relations based on culture and humanity. 'Iran and India have common viewpoints, interests and enemies and this is why they should stay beside each other for making further progress and development,' President Ahmadinejad added. Referring to the fact that Iran and India enjoy enhanced bilateral ties, the president pointed out that there are numerous potentials for mutual cooperation between two countries. 'There are no restrictions implemented by the Islamic Republic of Iran on enhancement of bilateral ties, including trade transactions, joint investments, and scientific, cultural, and tourism activities, as well as transfer of experiences between two countries,' he added. President Ahmadinejad pointed out that those who imposed the imperialist system on humanity are at the end of way and they want to repeat their previous demands in other forms. 'Big powers never want any nation to make progress or become powerful and they always want to keep the nations backwarded and incapable in order to easily plunder their wealth and resources,' he added. Indian Minister of New and Renewable Energies Farouq Abdullah for his part, while expressing his satisfaction with his with meeting President Ahmadinejad, emphasized the role of Islamic Republic of Iran and India in bringing about peace and welfare to the region. 'The government of India favors expansion of cooperation in economic, trade, commercial, and cultural areas with the Islamic Republic of Iran,' the minister added.
