All the agreements between Russia and Syria on the supplies of Russian air defence missile systems S-300 for the Syrian government remain in effect, Syrian Deputy Prime Minister Qadri Jamil said after the negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov here on Monday. “All the agreements between Russia and Syria in the field of the supplies of weapons are in progress,” the Deputy Prime Minister said. “The contacts continue, they remain in force,” Jamil told Itar-Tass. Speaking at a press conference upon the results of the Russia-EU summit on June 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin dwelt on the supplies of Russian air defence missile systems S-300 to the incumbent Syrian authorities. He noted that Russia does not want to violate the balance of forces in the region. “The contract was signed several years ago. It is not fulfilled yet,” the president said. “As for the S-300 contract, it is absolutely legal and transparent and corresponds to the international law and Russian legislation,” Sergei Lavrov said at the end of the same month. “The fulfilment of the contract is not over yet,” the minister confirmed then.
