Jakarta - Arab Today

The Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Muhammad Sarwar Danish, met Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla to discuss the implementation of cooperation between the two countries.

"Approximately, 20 Memorandums of Understanding in various fields have been signed by both countries. I hope we can facilitate both sides for better implementation," Danish said here on Thursday.

He also hoped that there would be closer cooperation with Indonesia in future.

Danish added that Afghanistan was one of the first countries to recognize Indonesia's sovereignty and establish relations and cooperation with Indonesia after the national independence was announced on Aug 17, 1945.

"The relationship between Indonesia and Afghanistan is very special, and the people of Afghanistan are very appreciative of Indonesian hospitality," he remarked.

He also stated that as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world and a successful country, Indonesia has become a very good model for many countries, including Afghanistan.

"I really appreciate the unity and diversity of Indonesia. I believe if we respect each other, we can succeed like Indonesia," the Afghan vice president added
