
Taliban insurgents kidnapped the son of a female senator and killed her son-in-law and another civilian during an attack on their vehicle in the Maqur district of Southern Ghazni province, a senior official said on Sunday. Deputy governor Mohammad Ali Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News the son and son-in-law of Bakht Bibi, who represents Ghazni province in the Meshrano Jirga or upper house, were attacked on the Kabul-Kandahar highway a day earlier. He said they wanted to visit the volatile district when came under attack from Taliban insurgents. Bibi’s son-in-law served in the crime police branch of the fourth police district of Ghazni City, the provincial capital, the deputy governor said. Six attackers were also killed during an exchange of fire that left another two civilians dead in another car on its way from Kandahar to Ghazni. Police had also reached the clash site. The Taliban have so far said nothing about the incident that came a week after another female lawmaker and her husband were injured and their daughter killed in a similar attack in Ghazni.
