Kabul - XINHUA

Afghan police backed by the army and the NATO-led coalition forces have killed four dozen Taliban militants across the country over the past 24 hours, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here on Wednesday. "Afghan National Police backed by the units of national army and the Coalition forces conducted several joint clearance operations in Nangarhar, Baghlan, Kandahar, Helmand and Nimroz provinces over the past 24 hours which left 48 armed Taliban rebels dead, 38 wounded and six others arrested," the statement said. However, it did not say if there were any casualties on the security forces. Taliban militants are yet to make comment.
