
Afghan National Police killed 12 Taliban insurgents in joint operations conducted with Afghan National Army, NDS and International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) during the last 24 hours in different regions of Afghanistan. In a statement Tuesday, the Afghan Ministry of Interior said, "The operations were conducted in Nooristan, Laghman, Kunduz, Jowzjan, Kandahar, Farah and Nimroz provinces, as a result 12 armed Taliban were killed, four wounded and five others were arrested by Afghan National Security Forces." Also, during these operations, Afghan National Police discovered and confiscated some amount of light and heavy rounds ammunition, IEDs and 980 kilos of opium. During the same 24 hour period, Afghan National Police discovered and defused 12 different types of mines placed by the insurgents in Faryab, Kandahar, Paktika and Paktiya provinces, the ministry said.
