
Afghan National Security Forces and Coalition Forces killed 19 armed Taliban insurgents in joint operations over the past 24 hours. In a statement issued Tuesday, Afghan Interior Ministry said, its forces along with International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) carried out several joint operations in different parts of the country, killing 19 Taliban militants, wounding three and arrested 13. The operations were conducted in Kunar, Nangarhar, Kunduz, Zabul, Ghazni, Herat and Helmand provinces. During these operations, Afghan National Police discovered and confiscated some amount of light and heavy rounds ammunition and IEDs. During the same 24 hour period, Afghan National Police discovered and defused seven anti-vehicle mines placed by enemies of Afghanistan for destructive activities in Uruzgan, Logar, Herat and Paktiya provinces. The ministry did not mention about casualties among the security forces.
