A culture of tolerance between people can only be achieved through integrated efforts

Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), has said the UAE believes that Arab solidarity and cooperation is what is needed to rid the region of the crises it is facing currently, adding that the UAE's wise leadership, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, realised, since the outset of the crisis, what was being plotted against, "our peoples and our countries, and how such plots are being carried out by conspirators hiding behind the cloaks of religion and contradictory ideologies."

Dr. Al Qubaisi made these remarks in Cairo, where she led the UAE Parliamentary Division to the meetings of the 23rd Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, being held from April 9th-11th, 2016.

She said, "The participation of the UAE Armed Forces in Operation Decisive Storm, and the subsequent Operation Restoring Hope, embodies the cornerstones of our foreign policy since its foundation was laid by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Helping our brothers in maintaining security and stability is a steady and firm approach embedded in the UAE's foreign policy and we are confident that this stance has served as a lifeline and saved the people of Yemen in the face of the ongoing brutal attacks against them at the hands of aggressors who went against the legitimate constitutional and political process and want to cease control of the fate of these honourable Arab people."

Dr. Al Qubaisi said the UAE also believes that Arab national security is indivisible, and that, "We will continue to work together with our brotherly Arab countries to perform our duty and fulfil national commitments in order to lay the foundations of security and stability in the region, while addressing schemes and foreign agendas which seek to impose certain rules on our peoples and cause ethnic and sectarian division."

Al Qubaisi went on to stress that the UAE believes that there are foundations, pillars and requirements which have to be met to achieve the security and stability of the Arab peoples, which includes meeting the needs of the tens of millions of Arab youth and providing them with new future opportunities, away from the calls of recruitment to terrorism which, she said, is attracting many groups of young people in various Arab countries.

"The UAE also believes in the need to seriously fight terrorism, and also believes that creating a culture of moderation and tolerance between peoples, cultures and civilisations can only be achieved through integrated efforts, and continuous plans on the intellectual, educational, religious and cultural levels," she said.
