
The Penal Court of First Instance in Sana'a on Monday sentenced eight elements of al-Qaeda from 6-7 years in prison for being convicted of participating in an armed gang to carry out killings and bombings in the province of Abyan. Chief Judge Hilal Hamid Mahfal sentenced both of the defendants Waleed Mohamed Mohamed al Hubaishi and Omar Ahmed Mohamed Fadl to seven year in jail, and the other six defendants Ahd Mohammed Saeed Amer, Amin Mohamed Ahmed Sameh Mohamed Mohsen Obaid, Yahya Yusuf Mohamed Hydra, Jameel Salem Saif, and Amer leader Muhammad to six years. The prosecution charged the eight convicted with involving from 2011 until June 30, 2012 in an armed gang linked with al-Qaeda to carry out killings and bombing acts in Abyan province.
