72 %of Americans approving Russia's initiative on Syria

72 per cent of Americans are approving Russia’s initiative for the destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons arsenals, as the public opinion poll, conducted by the Gallup Service, said. 18 per cent of those polled are disapproving of this initiative, Voice of Russia reported. Among other things, the report containing the results of this poll that was released Wednesday says that 50 per cent of Americans have called the participation of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin in the settlement of Syria chemical weapons problem useful from the point of view of the US interests. At the same time, the public opinion poll has shown that 50 per cent of Americans are regarding Russia’s policy unfriendly and hostile to the US interests. 44 per cent of those polled believe that Russia is the USA’s friend. The number of Americans who are criticizing Russia, for the first time in 15 years, has exceeded the number of those who have adopted a positive attitude towards it, the Gallup Service reported.
