Moscow - Itar-Tass

Chief of Moscow police department Anatoly Yakunin discharged six police officers for negligence while the detention of a crime suspect at Matveyevsky market, the press service of the Moscow police told Itar-Tass on Wednesday. “Deputy Chief of the police station in Ochakovo-Matveyevskoye district, a district operative from the same police station and four patrol police officers have been discharged from the police service,” the press service reported. Probe materials on the police officers’ actions have been passed to investigating agencies for a procedural decision to be taken, the press service said. Meanwhile, yesterday head of Moscow police admitted that the police officers acted legally at the market in western part of Moscow. Earlier, due to upheaval at the market has been also dismissed the chief of Ochakovo-Matveyevskoye local police department. Market sweep: over a thousand people detained Right after the incident the police has performed sweep operations at Moscow marketplaces. Police officers detained over a thousand people, the major part of them - natives from Central Asia and Caucasus. Moreover, 250 illegal migration criminal cases were filed. About 300 cases are to be filed against conspirators of the so called ‘rubber’ flats. In the height of the sweeps head of Moscow police ordered to conduct a large-scale decriminalization operation. Anatoly Yakunin noted that the operation would include not only market sweeps, but also fight against organized crime groups and crime bosses. On July 31, it has been reported that Moscow Western administrative district prefecture decided to pull down Matveyevsky market by January 1, 2015. Another four marketplaces will be closed, and by 2015 the district will have only three marketplaces – Dorogomilovsky, Kuntsevsky and Krylatsky markets. The prefecture offers prospects for more frequent and sudden inspections. Khalimat and Magomed Rasulov’s case Last Saturday, several people clashed with the police at the marketplace Matveyevsky in western Moscow. About 20 comers from southern regions attempted to seize a man, who is suspected of raping a 15-year-old girl, from the operatives. As a result a policeman has got a heavy head injury and was brought to the intensive therapy ward. Police detained Magomed Rasulov and Khalimat Rasulova suspected of attacking policemen. Nikulinsky district court put them under arrest for two months. They face accusations in attack on the policemen and may be given a life sentence. Mrs. Rasulova pleads not guilty. The attorney asks to release her on bail.
