6 detained Slovaks released in Iran

Iran has released six of the eight Slovak nationals arrested on charges of possessing illegal equipment and violating the Islamic republic's law, Press TV reported on Monday. Following a decision by relevant authorities based on investigations into the case, the six Slovak nationals were released and handed over to Slovakia's embassy in Tehran on Sunday, said the English-language satellite TV, quoting a statement by Iran's Foreign Ministry. The other two detainees are still being investigated, according to the report. In June, Iran's former Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araqchi said the arrested Slovaks "had traveled to Iran as tourists, but they had unconventional behavior and equipment." Also, media said several Slovak citizens were detained in Iran earlier in June 2013 for taking pictures of military installations from a hang glider and were charged with spying.
