
At least 46 militants were killed and 27 others were detained in joint operations launched by Afghan forces and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) during the past twenty-four hours in different regions of the country. Afghanistan's Interior Ministry said in a statement today that Afghan forces carried out with ISAF several joint operations in Kunar, Kapisa, Zabul, Uruzgan, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Paktika and Herat provinces, killing 46 Taliban militants, wounding seven others and arresting 27 others. The statement added that the security forces seized large quantities of heavy and light weapons, homemade explosives and dismantled various types of mines. However, the statement did not say if there were any casualties on the security forces.
