
The 3rd meeting of the AU-Horn of Africa Initiative (AU-HoAI) on human trafficking and immigrants wrapped up its activities on Friday in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el Sheikh.
Assistant Foreign Minister for multilateral affairs Hisham Badr recited the draft communique of the two-day meetings ahead of referring it to the 2nd ministerial meeting on the initiative, due to be held in Sharm el Sheikh on Saturday.
The draft communique calls on the international community to provide assistance in combating illegal immigration and human trafficking through reducing poverty in the region via enhancing development and creating jobs.
The participants took up efforts to fight illegal migration and human trafficking and pressed for cooperation among AU-HoAI member states in this regard.
Officials from Egypt, Tunisia, Sudan, Somalia, South Sudan, Kenya, Eritrea and Ethiopia took part in the event.
