An explosive device affixed under a car went off Thursday near the military airport of al-Mazzeh in the Syrian capital of Damascus, wounding three people, local Syria Press website said. The report did not give further details, while activists' Damascus' Media Office said a big blast rocked the vicinity of the al-Mazzeh airport and sent into air plumes of thick smoke. The rebels have repeatedly tried to target the al-Mazzeh airbase, which is reportedly responsible for unleashing airstrikes against rebel-held areas in the western suburbs of Muadamieh and Daraya. Also on Thursday, a roadside bomb went off in Damascus' upscale Dummar district, injuring a physician and causing material damage, according to local Sham FM radio.
