Three Turkish soldiers were injured by cross-border fire from the Syrian side, after armed groups reportedly failed to smuggle weapons. The incident took place near the Kiyigoren border village in Hatay's Altinozu district, after a military patrol was targeted by gunfire from inside the Syrian territories, the Turkish military command said in a statement. The statement noted that the attack resulted in the injury of three soldiers who were transferred to a nearby hospital. The statement added that Turkish soldiers responded with fire at the source based on rules of engagement. Recently, smuggling operations increased between the two countries, as result of fuel shortage, particularly on the borders.
