An army officer and a recruit were shot dead on Thursday in an attack by militants on a checkpoint in a village near Sheikh Zuweid City in Egypt's North Sinai, a security source told Xinhua. "Four other soldiers were injured in the attack," added the source, noting the assailants belonged to hardline Jihadist Islamist groups. On Wednesday, two soldiers were killed and three other wounded in attacks by militants in the same governorate. Three terrorists were killed also on Wednesday in a car bomb attack near a police training center in Arish, capital of North Sinai. Attacks on security forces occur frequently after the army ousted Islamist President Mohamed Morsi earlier this month. Security sources said the attacks were carried out by Islamist groups to press the military to reinstate Morsi. In the past two weeks, nearly 30 people, including soldiers and civilians, were killed in similar armed attacks on security premises and checkpoints in North Sinai.
