Jordanian military court started trial of Jordanian soldier
Amman - Adel Salama

A Jordanian military court on Wednesday began a public trial of a Jordanian soldier accused of shooting at US soldiers, as they killed them at the base of "King Faisal Air" located in the region of Jafar, south of Jordan.
The Military Court, which was the first to consider the case, presided over by Military Judge Col. Mohammed Al-Afif, and the members of military judges Lt. Col. Abdullah Al-Fawaz and Major Safwan Al-Zu'bi.
The court decided to defer consideration of the case until next Sunday to enable the soldier arrested since October 2016 to appoint a lawyer to defend him. The military prosecution assigned the soldier the charge of intentional murder to more than one person in violation of article 327 of the Penal Code.
According to the military prosecution, the incident occurred when the soldier heard gunshots from a source who could not identify his destination during his official position on the main door of the air base in conjunction with a number of his colleagues. This coincided with the entry of a number of vehicles belonging to the American forces And the soldier was shot.
Three US soldiers were killed and a Jordanian officer was injured on November 4, 2016, following an exchange of fire in front of King Faisal Air Base in the Jafar area of southern Jordan. According to Jordanian press reports, the Jordanian soldier, a guard of al-Qaeda, shot at a car carrying US military trainers who refused to comply with the stop orders, which led to exchanges of fire with them, killing two immediately and injuring three of them, and wounding a Jordanian colonel with a bullet in the neck.
