Egyptian actress Aida Riadh Cairo - Mohammed Alloush In an interview with Arabstoday, Egyptian actress Aida Riadh cited missing belly dance - with what she began her career - as the reason behind her doing the film “Metteb and Shadia” in which she plays a folk dancer. The theatre and film actress said that the movie, written by Mustafa Moussa and set in a poor urban area, tells the story of a young man named Metteb who drives a passenger microbus for a living. He is in love with a girl belonging to the same stratum and the film tells of the problems faced by the marginalized lower classes. Shooting is almost finished, she said, and director Ahmed Shaheen is set to take charge of the post-production process to prepare the film for release soon. Riadh also told Arabstoday that she shares the acting credits with Aliaa al-Kibali, Tatiana, Saed Saleh, Zizi Mustafa, Ahmed Bedeir, Ahmed Seyam, Mohammed Sharaf, Rabab Mumtaz and Saed Tarabeek. The actress also expressed her pleasure at the response she received for her film “February 30th” currently being shown in cinemas. The film deals with a very important theme, she said, identifying it as “luck and how we must not depend on it and surrender to our feeling unlucky. We must only depend on our own efforts in order to fulfill our dreams,” she said, “and not give up and feel defeated by reality.” “It is God who manages our live,” the actress said, adding that she enjoyed working with the film’s cast, which included Sameh Hussein, Aiten Amer, Lutfi Labeeb, Mohammed al-Sawi, Math-har Abulnaga, Alaa Morsi, Laila Ezzularab, Iman al-Sayyed and Nour al-Kadeeky. “February 30th” was written by Salah al-Juhainy and directed by Mutazz al-Tuny.
