Egyptian children and the elderly will be provided with free medical care by the Zayed Giving Initiative humanitarian mission in Africa.

The initiative announced that it would send humanitarian convoys to African countries such as Sudan, Egypt, Tanzania, Mauritania and Morocco.

A state-of-the-art mobile hospital will provide a wide range of medical services through an Emirati-Egyptian volunteer team of prominent doctors, Dr Adel Al Shamery, Executive Director of the Zayed Giving Initiative and head of the UAE team of doctors, said.

''These humanitarian medical missions aim at instilling the culture of voluntary work, encouraging joint medical and voluntary partnerships and enabling youth in both the UAE and Egypt to contribute to efforts seeking to alleviate suffering of the underprivileged, particularly children and elderly people,'' he added.

He indicated that previous medical missions conducted by the Zayed Giving Initiative had benefited more than 500,000 children and the elderly in Egypt.

This charity exercise is being implemented in partnership with the Saudi-German Hospital, the Dar Al Ber Society, the Mobile Humanitarian City and the UAE Programme for Community Volunteering.

The exercise is also in keeping with the values established by the late founding father, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and has become a model for other countries to emulate, he said.

The mobile hospital would provide creative medical solutions to thousands of destitute patients, said Dr. Reem Osman, Humanitarian Ambassador for the Initiative.

''The best therapeutic, diagnostic, surgical and preventive services will be provided to those patients,'' she added.
