Shiraz - Irna
City of Shiraz in the southern province of Fars ranked third in the world for the number of organ transplants. Head of the charity organization providing support to kidney patients Nader Moini said the honor goes to the families who lost one of their members but decided to donate organs of the bodies to give life to other people. Noting that at least 200 people are involved in the procedure of an organ transplant operation, he said that 251 people have received kidney transplants in the province in the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2011). According to Moini, 341 cases of liver transplants and 23 cases of pancrase transplants have also been carried out in the province during the period.
