Mountain View - UPI

Google has launched a search tool that will allow people to compare the nutritional contents of two different foods. If a person types into the search bar "compare apples to oranges," the search engine will return the carbohydrate, fat, and sugar content of the two fruits. People using foods in recipes can compare different ingredients to see how the recipe's nutrition fluctuates -- an idea inspired by common Internet searches. "We noticed people were doing a lot of food and nutrition searches, multi-step searches on one food and then another food. These things are often compared to one another so we thought, 'Why don't we make it easy?'" said a Google spokesperson. One aspect to consider is that the search doesn't take into account how the food is prepared, which can have a substantial effect on the food's nutritional value.
