All the 108 soldiers who are members of the Philippine peace-keeping contingent to Liberia have passed the Ebola screening test before they are repatriated home, the military said on Sunday.
Roberto Ancan, commanding officer of the peacekeeping operations center, said the Filipino peacekeepers underwent medical procedure as a requirement before they return to the country.
But despite passing the Ebola screening test, the government forces will be quarantined in Caballo Island in northern Philippine province of Cavite for 21 days upon their arrival on Nov. 11.
Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff Gregorio Catapang ordered the Joint Task Group Liberia to provide the peacekeepers with recreational facilities aside from the medical facilities that are needed during their stay.
To ensure that the Philippines will remain Ebola-free, President Benigno S. Aquino III earlier ordered that all Filipinos, including foreigners, who have come or transited in any Ebola- infected countries in Western Africa should undergo mandatory 21- day quarantine on the facilities that the government has prepared for them.
Liberia is one of the West African countries where there is high number of people with Ebola infection.
