Mukalla - WAM

The Emirates Red Crescent today signed an agreement with a local contractor and the Directorate of Public Health and Population of Rudum District, Yemen's southern governorate of Shabwa, to fund restoration and maintenance of a healthcare centre in Arqa town, as part of the UAE's ongoing humanitarian support to Yemen.

The Emirates Red Crescent said the agreement is part of the agency's efforts to boost development, improve the humanitarian conditions and restore life to normal in the crisis-hit country.

The agreement was signed with representatives of the contracting company, and Abdullah Afeef, head of the Directorate of Public Health and Population of Rudum.

Secretary-General of the local council of Rudum, Hadi Saeed Al Kharman, thanked the UAE and its humanitarian arm for backing state institutions in Shabwa and restoring hope amid a political and economic crisis which, he said, disrupted growth in the country.

Meanwhile, the Emirates Red Crescent handed over a Complete Blood Count (CBC) device to a medical centre in Al-Qatn village, Hadhramaut Governorate, as part of its support for the healthcare sector in the governorate.
