The 3rd Kuwaiti and 14th GCC Primary Healthcare Conference recommended to select the best employees for healthcare centers as well as to train and upgrade their skills to improve the provided services.
In statements to KUNA on Friday, Dr. Rehab Al-Wotayan, Director of Central Department of Primary Health Care, said that the conference wrapped up Thursday underlined the importance of providing high quality services at primary healthcare centers.
She added that the conference entitled "Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases in Primary Healthcare" recommended to pick up efficient staff including nurses, physicians, technicians and administrates.
Dr. Al-Wotayan noted the conference stressed the importance of introducing management excellence to achieve success.
"The conference recommended to communicate effectively and easily with patients, taking into considerations differences in their ages and culture and to evaluate constantly employees according clear-cut standards," she said.
She stated that the conferees highlighted the need for greater coordination and integration among all state bodies and civil society organizations to prevent and control the non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
A non-communicable diseases, or NCD, is a medical condition or disease, which by definition is non-infectious and non-transmissible among people. They include autoimmune diseases, heart disease, stroke, many cancers, asthma, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, osteoporosis, Alzheimer's disease, cataracts, and more.
According to the World Health Organization (Who), the NCDs kill more than 36 million people each year.
Dr. Al-Wotayan pointed out that the event urged physicians to take evidence-based initiatives. It advised for making scientific researches based on the health of society as a whole not on certain individual cases.
The conference, she added, called for data exchange among healthcare centers and hospitals to establish a direct coordination channel among physicians.
She stated the opening session of the conference was attended by Director General of the Executive Board of GCC Health Ministers Council Prof. Tawfik Khoja and Health Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Affairs and Head of the Conference Organizing Committee Qais Al Dwairi.
There three-day conference included six scientific sessions and five workshops in which many topics related to challenges that healthcare system faces were discussed, she noted.
