Muscat - Arab today

Celebrations and disappointments go hand-in-hand with results.

While some faces will be lit up with jubilation, others will be down with disappointment, but accepting the results is the most important aspect of this system, say counsellors.

With the Class XII results out for Indian Schools, Dr. Sridevi P Thashnath, the principal of Indian School Darsait, has been appointed the post-result CBSE counsellor to provide services to students and their parents.

“This is not the end of the road for students. Parents and students have to understand this and take the outcome in the right spirit,” she said.

Counselling began on May 28 and will go on until June 11, 2017 from 8 pm to 10 pm on all working days.

“Though, I haven’t got any calls, I am expecting some calls in the next few days where parents and students will call up after their disappointment with marks,” she said. It is a voluntary, free of cost service that can be undertaken by students of Indian Schools across Oman.

Counsellors advise students that accepting failure is a big step in working towards their future goals.

“Students should take up the challenge and focus on rewriting the exam if they fail.

They should work on improving their memory and study techniques and focus on their strengths instead of getting carried away,” said a counsellor. For parents, who have nurtured high hopes, counsellors say this is the time children need their parents.

“Care more for children than marks.

Do not compare to others’ performance or admonish them for their mistakes after results,” said a counsellor.

Students and parents, who require help, may reach the principal atbetween 8 pm and 10 pm
