Dubai - Arabstoday

Police have warned parents not to lock their children in cars and go shopping or run errands as they may suffocate in the heat. Captain Mohammad Ebrahim Al Rayaysah, acting head of the Difficult Tasks and Land Rescue section, said in June there were 18 cases of children, most of them under five, trapped inside cars. Although there were no deaths or injuries, the officer expressed concern at the increase in such incidents. "This is parental negligence," he said. He warned parents that this can be very risky, especially if they do not keep the air-conditioner running, or the car runs out of gas.
