Paris - APS

The African Union mentioned Monday the sending of more staff to "break the cycle of Ebola," during a meeting of the Organization For Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) in Paris.
"It is essential to send staff. We need more human resources to break the cycle of Ebola," said the South-African president of the AU Commission, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, at the opening of the OECD’s International Economic Forum on Africa.
"The infrastructures are welcome but infrastructures alone will not solve the problem, we need human resources," she said.
Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, the country most affected by this hemorrhagic fever epidemic, "do not have enough health personnel.
Part of it died due to the disease, "she added.
Dlamini-Zuma said these countries have revised their growth forecasts downward due to Ebola and stressed the importance of health facilities and education to fight against these diseases and thus for development.
Viral hemorrhagic fever has killed 3,439 persons on 7,478 cases recorded in West Africa, according to the latest report of the World Health Organization (WHO), on October 1.
