Manama - BNA

The Organising Committee of the HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa Voluntary Work Award has announced the names of the Arab winners of the eighth edition of the award, including 14 voluntary work pioneers from 12 Arab countries.

The 14 pioneers will be honoured in recognition of their contributions to promoting voluntary work culture, and outstanding creative voluntary work initiatives and experiences, the award's organising committee chairman and the Good Word Society Chairman, Hassan Bu-Hazza, said, highlighting the committee’s keenness on shedding light on Arab voluntary work leaders and on their youth-inspiring success stories.

The honourees include Board of Trustees Chairman of the Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd Foundation for Humanitarian Development, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud (Saudi Arabia), Assistant V.C. for International Cooperation at the Sultan Qaboos University, HH Dr. Mona bint Fahad Al-Said (Oman), NBB Board Chairman, dignitary Farouk Yousuf Khalil Almoayyed, (Bahrain), and Founding President of Ahlia University and the Managing Director of its Board of Trustees, Prof. Abdulla Al Hawaj (Bahrain).

The list also comprises MP Youssef Al-Gharbi, from Morocco, UNESCO official Prof. Dr. Zahida Darwiche Jabbour (Lebanon), Shaikh Ali bin Ali Al-Salahi (Yemen), Dherar Belhoul Al Falasi (UAE), Dr. Jawhar bin Abdulqader Al-Jammoussi (Tunisia), Husamuddin Abdulhalim Al-Qabbani (Egypt), Arab Women Organisation’s Ambassador, Fathi Jabr Afane, Dr. Samih Mohammed Fayez Shaaban Al-Dweik (Palestine), Mohammed Rasheed Abdulmajid (Iraq) and Sayed Ahmed Abdoun (Algeria).

Bu Hazza pointed out that the organisation of the HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa Voluntary Work Award and nomination of the Arab voluntary work pioneers are the outcome of the on-going cooperation among the Arab League, the Arab Federation for Voluntary Activities and the Good Word Society.

He added that the nomination of the Arab voluntary work pioneers aims to strengthen effective partnership with voluntary work organisations, entities, institutions and societies, as well as support the private sector’s efforts in this regard.

He stressed that the organising committee is keen to implement the directives of HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali, the award patron, regarding the good organisation of the award-distribution ceremony commensurate with the kingdom’s distinguished image.

He added that key Arab personalities and the Arab League have been invited to attend the ceremony, set to be held on the sidelines of the kingdom’s celebrations of the Arab Voluntary Work Day.

The 8th edition of the HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa Voluntary Work Award is sponsored by Tamkeen, BAS, VIVA, GPIC and Al Baraka Group.
