UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon
New York - KUNA

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon strongly condemned the shooting attacks in Copenhagen, Denmark, at a freedom of expression event and near a synagogue on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Ban said, in a statement released by his press office, his thoughts are with the victims and their families, reaffirming that the UN stands in solidarity with the people and authorities of Denmark.
The UN official also reaffirmed that there is "no justification for attacks against civilians," and reiterated the need to stand strong for freedom of expression and tolerance.
"There is no space for anti-semitism or any form of racial, ethnic or religious discrimination in today's world," he said.
Two attacks took place in Copenhagen resulting in the death of two and other injuries; the first attack targeted a cultural center hosting a debate on Islam and free speech.
