Khartoum - KUNA

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Emrullah Isler arrived here on Thursday for a two-day visit during which he is expected to meet Sudanese leaders and inaugurate a Turkish-funded specialized research hospital in the Darfur region. He was received at Khartoum airport by the Sudanese minister of cabinet affairs and health and several other officials. Upon arrival, the Turkish official said it was the first time for him to visit Sudan and it mainly aimed to open the Turkish-financed research hospital in Darfur. Isler said the hospital project, funded by the Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA), reaffirms Turkey's desire to help the Sudanese people and willingness to open up to all Arab countries. The Sudan-Turkey Training and Research Hospital has 31 polyclinics established within an 11,000 square-meter indoor space. Turkish and Sudanese health ministries inked an operations deal last year to run the hospital jointly for five years. The clinic aims to provide reliable, sustainable and high-quality health services to people in the region, as well as train 50 Sudanese health workers every year.
