Giza - Arab Today

Attending a ceremony to inaugurate expansions of the El Nasr Co. for Intermediate Chemicals (NCIC) Saturday, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is accompanied by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and Defense Minister Sedqy Sobhy.

Also present are Petroleum Minister Tareq el Molla and a number of senior State officials.
Verses of the Holy Quran were recited at the beginning of the ceremony, before board chairman of the NCIC Mokhtar Abdel Latif took the stand.

Indeed, NCIC achievements have greatly contributed to developing the industrial zone in Abou Rawash, Abdel Latif said.

The NCIC could secure basic services to adjacent companies and factories, thus helping develop and expand the industrial zone, he noted.

Established in 1972, the main headquarters of the company is the biggest and oldest industrial facility affiliated with the Armed Forces, Abdel Latif said.
Abdel Latif told the audience that production lines of some old factories have been upgraded to better serve the different sectors in a way that would help achieve comprehensive development in Egypt.

Medical gas factories of the NCIC, for example, act to serve about 83 hospitals and medical centers, he noted.

Abdel Latif added that the NCIC established a factory, the first in Egypt to produce high purity argon

Also the NCIC supplies the Egyptian ambulance in Cairo and Giza with about 30,000 oxygen tanks annually, he further said.
The NCIC is also credited for establishing medical gas networks of some civil hospitals, such as the Nasser Institute Hospital, El Hussein University Hospital and Zagazig General Hospital, Abdel Latif said.

The company also played an important role in establishing medical gas networks of a number of military hospitals, such as the Galaa Military Medical Complex, Heliopolis Military Hospital and Damietta Military Hospital, he added.

Work is also underway to establish medical gas networks of Shebin El Kom Military Hospital and Almaza Educational Hospital, said the NCIC board chairman.
Today, President Sisi will inaugurate factory No. 25 of the NCIC, said Abdel Latif, adding the new factory will produce 85 tons of chlorine and caustic soda daily.

The new factory will help double the total annual production of chlorine and caustic soda, which now stands at 50,000 tons, he noted.

The factory was established following directives by President Sisi, Abdel Latif said, pointing out that chlorine is a key element in the disinfection of drinking water.

The new factory will also help establish more drinking water and sanitation plants across Egypt, the NCIC board chairman believes.
Abdel Latif put the company's total annual production of potash, phosphate and combined fertilizers, as well as phosphoric acid, at about 575,000 tons.

Those are used to serve the agriculture sector in Egypt and the surplus is exported to 18 countries, he made it clear.

About 2,400 workers, mostly fresh graduates, are working at the different NCIC branches across Egypt, Abdel Latif said.

He thanked the Armed Forces for their full support for the NCIC, as well as the company's loyal staff who act around the clock to meet the people's needs of strategic products.

He urged all workers at the NCIC to exert more effort to efficiently implement new projects.

Abdel Latif then offered a copy of the Holy Quran to President Sisi.

A documentary about the NCIC was then played.
