President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday attended a celebration marking inaugurating al Nasr Floating Bridge in Port Said city.

The ceremony started with a statement by the director of the arsenal of the Suez Canal Authority Gamal Khaled who noted that the bridge is the first of its kind linking the cities of Port Said and Port Fouad.

The project embodies the societal role between the canal authority and the civil society together with the Egyptian people, he added.

He further noted that the bridge is aimed at ending waiting periods for vehicles on the two banks of the canal along with enhancing the trade movement between the eastern and western ports.
The head of the arsenal department of the Suez Canal Authority added that the bridge capacity hits 20,000 small cars per day at a total tonnage of about 20 tons along with 1,200 trucks at a total tonnage of 70 tons per day.

The overall costs of the bridge hit 100 million pounds, he said, adding that the project was completed in nine months. The bridge is 424 meters in length and 15 meters in width, he pointed out.
The head of the arsenal of the Suez Canal Authority noted that the weight of the bridge hits 2,600 tons.

The project was achieved by 2,500 workers from the Suez Canal together with others from contracting companies, he added.

All companies that took part in implementing the project were following the all quality criteria, he affirmed.
Gamal Khaled, the head of the arsenal of the Suez Canal Authority, pledged before the president to maintain all efforts in the service of the homeland.

He noted that the bridge is supplied with the state-of-the-art equipment in the fields of controlling the movement of opening and closing and receiving navigation commands from the electronic navigation and control room in the Suez Canal Authority.
