His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa
Mumbai - Arab Today

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Honourary President of the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation (BMMAF), Founder of the Khalid bin Hamad Mixed Martial Arts Organisation (KHK MMA), confirmed that Kazakhstan will host the sixth edition of the Brave Fighting Championship, on April 29 at Halyk Arena in the ancient capital of Almaty.
"We have directed the Brave Combat Federation to hold the sixth championship in Kazakhstan in order to enter the Eurasian continent, considering that its geographical location on the world map is a gateway to the Asian and European continents," HH Shaikh Khalid said. "This will enable us to spread more widely across the two continents, especially with Kazakhstan, the Asian-European country, as the fourth international platform of this championship, following its first destination of South America, specifically Brazil, and then its return to the Asian continent through UAE’s capital, Abu Dhabi, before concluding its third stop in the city of Mumbai, India." His Highness added that he gave the organisation the green light to complete all the special arrangements to hold this global sports gathering.
HH Shaikh Khalid pointed out that efforts will continue according to the strategy drawn by His Highness for this championship, which aims to expand the organisation and the hosting of this event in various capitals and major cities of the world, which will have a clear impact in enhancing its international presence, and will contribute to achieving more successes that will reflect on the achievement of the goal set by His Highness for the Bahraini project of BRAVE, to be the number one at the level of professional championships in mixed martial arts. This will also reflect significantly on enhancing Bahrain's position on the international map, especially at the level of this sport.
HH Shaikh Khalid thanked the friendly Republic of India for hosting the fifth edition, which achieved great success, praising the great role played by the Indian MMA Federation for contributing and participating in ideal preparations for this event in Mumbai. His Highness looks forward to extending bridges of cooperation and coordination with the Indian Federation in order to achieve the highest success rates for this sport in the near future.
"We are surprised by the great interaction of the audience, who were keen to attend in the Dome Hall to watch the fights of the fifth edition of the championship, it added a special and distinct flavour to the atmosphere of this edition, through the constant encouragement of the fighters." He commended the high levels of performance presented by the fighters during the fights, which served to highlight this edition. At the same time, His Highness congratulated the winners of this edition, wishing better luck to the rest of the fighters in the coming editions," he said.
The fifth edition of the BRAVE Championship featured a white weapon display presented before HH Shaikh Khalid, which is part of the traditional military displays connected to the history of the friendly Republic of India.
British fighter Carl Booth succeeded in beating his Algerian rival Tahar Hadbi in the main event of the fifth edition of the BRAVE fighting championship. The Briton achieved this result following a tie between them during the three rounds of confrontation, but the decision of the judging panel crowned him victor of the fight.
The confrontation between Indian fighter Abdul Muneer and his Canadian counterpart Mangat was extraordinary, and many held their breath until the last round of the game, with both fighters presenting a strong level of performance and which forced the judging panel to decide on the winner. The result was in favour of the Canadian fighter, who emerged with a valuable win in this championship.
The judging panel’s decision saves fighter Jakub Kowalewicz from a loss, after he was just about to fall before of the fighter Alex Da Silva, but the balance of this confrontation changed after the panel granted victory to Jakub, who stood up to the last round and tried during the fight to resist the competing fighter.
