H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, signed on Tuesday morning, the sketch of the Abu Dhabi Declaration 2015, at the 2015 Global Meeting on Search and Rescue.

The declaration aims to enhance the standards of readiness and response in national and international urban search and rescue operations. It also confirms the commitment of international search and rescue teams to the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 57/150 of 2002, on "Strengthening the Effectiveness and Coordination of International Urban Search and rescue assistance" from 2015 to 2020.

The signing ceremony was attended by Ambassador, Manuel Bessler, the new president of the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), and Lt. Colonel Mohammed Abdul Jalil Al Ansari, the Director General of the Civil Defence in Abu Dhabi, and chairman of the UAE search and rescue team.

Sheikh Saif also visited the exhibition on the side-lines of the 2015 Global Meeting on Search and Rescue, organised by the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

He also toured a number of pavilions, where he was briefed on the latest devices and modern equipment used in the field of search and rescue works, displayed by the private companies.

Sheikh Saif also examined the rescue radar system for the detection of victims trapped under the rubble, and the best technological solutions for purifying water. He also examined the latest firefighting and rescue equipment used by the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence General Directorate for fire incidents within cities
