Seoul - Arab Today

US President Barack Obama arrived in Seoul Sunday for a three-day visit to South Korea where he will attend a nuclear security summit that begins on Monday.
The US President is scheduled to visit the demilitarized zone separating the North and South to encourage US soldiers stationed in South Korea and demonstrate the solidarity between the two allied nations. The security summit is based on Obama's proposal to discuss measures against nuclear terrorism. He will meet with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak on Sunday afternoon. Their meeting appears to be aimed at showing that the bilateral economic relationship has advanced to a new level. The free trade agreement between the US and South Korea took effect earlier this month. Obama also plans to hold meetings with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Chinese President Hu Jintao to increase pressure on North Korea and Iran. Despite protests from the international community, North Korea plans to launch a satellite in April and Iran is proceeding with its nuclear program.
