Lavrov thanks Ban Ki-moon for efforts to solve global issues

Russia expects that the new UN secretary general will make many efforts to solve the global issues in accordance with the demands of the time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was quoted by Interfax news agency as saying.
"I would like to express gratitude to His Excellency Ban Ki-moon, who while serving at the post of the UN secretary general made many efforts to upgrade the global organization in accordance with the demands of the time," he said during the general debates at the 71st session of the UN General Assembly.
"We expect that the new UN secretary general will also make a contribution to solving these issues," he said.
