Baghdad - Arab Today

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi on Friday was invited by US President-elect Donald Trump to visit the United States after the inauguration ceremony in January.

In a phone call made by Abadi to congratulate Trump on his election victory, the US president asserted that Iraq was a main partner to Washington and that the Iraqi government would receive a strong support from his administration.

Trump congratulated Abadi on the victories achieved against Daesh terrorist group, stressing his strong and increasing support for the North African country.

For his part, Abadi said that the Iraqis dealt a severe blow to Daesh through liberating their lands and they are close to free Mosul city of Ninewa province from the terrorist group.
