His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister today attended the inauguration of SEARCH, a new facility established for Culture and Research. Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, His Excellency Shaikh Nasser bin Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, also attended the inauguration.

Inaugurated under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and supported by the Emir of the State of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, SEARCH is a new state-of-the art research facility located in Muharraq, dedicated to the fields of Bahraini and Arabic literature, poetry, culture and history.

During the inauguration, HRH the Crown Prince highlighted that, in line with HM King Hamad’s vision, the Kingdom is committed to protecting Bahrain’s rich cultural and historical heritage, which play an important role shaping national identity

HRH the Crown Prince expressed his pleasure at the opening of SEARCH, noting that the new facility will make a significant contribution to academic research of Arabic and Bahraini literature, poetry, culture and history

HRH the Crown Prince further noted that culture and history underpin the Kingdom’s development. In this regard, His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of cultural education to driving creativity, productivity and the growth of Bahrain’s key sectors

HRH the Crown Prince went on to praise the President of the Board of Trustees of the Sheikh Ibrahim Centre, HE Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, whose efforts and initiatives to promote Bahrain’s culture have generated a positive response both within and outside the Kingdom

Following a tour of the research centre and two related projects, Memory of the House and Dar Al Fan, HRH the Crown Prince and HH the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait then attended a ceremony to mark the official opening of SEARCH

HE the President of the Board of Trustees expressed her appreciation towards the Emir of the State of Kuwait for his generous support for the centre, as well as the promotion of Bahraini and Arabic culture more broadly

HE the President of the Board of Trustees expressed her gratitude towards HRH the Crown Prince for his patronage of the new centre, as well as his ongoing efforts to support the role of the private sector within Bahrain’s vision for a sustainable economy

HE the President of the Board of Trustees expressed her hope that the new facility would contribute positively to the wider objectives of the Shaikh Ebrahim Centre, established in 2002 to support cultural research and development. HE the President of the Board of Trustees further noted the possibility of cooperation with the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) based in Switzerland.
